The anchor is a symbol of stability, tranquility and the human condition that was used as inspiration for the project.
Stability: Having strong ground work with the use of strong materials such as steel, wood, glass, concrete, and stone, the home's design will be aesthetically and functionally timeless.
Tranquility: The anchor is seen as a symbol of hope for tranqulitity. The home's design will bring a sense of tranquility by using "pure forms" and clean lines delivering calmness, simplicity and balance.
The Human Condition: The anchor remains firm and steady amongst the stormy waters, symbolizing the stable part of human cognition while amid confusion. The family's daily functions are reflected and incorporated in the design of the home allowing for peace and clarity.
The home's architectural materials set the color pallet of the interiors. The design intent is to allow the exterior materials and interior materials to blend, in that the exterior materials meet the interior materials seamlessly. Where one can not distinguish the exterior from the interior and specific functions of the home are defined by materiality.
